Gunvor Foundation is a Switzerland-registered charitable organization endowed by Gunvor Group and empowered with independent strategic and operational governance.
The Foundation is endowed through a percentage of Gunvor Group’s annual net profits, in addition to supplementary proceeds derived from the Group’s corporate sustainability program, such as monies awarded by financing partners relating to the Group’s achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) linked to sustainability. The Foundation deploys its funding through scholarships, grants, and donations to support initiatives, which are vetted against conflicts of interest with the Group’s business activities. Approximately 20% of the Foundation’s funds are allocated to Switzerland-based charities and organizations.
Physical and mental health are fundamental to dignity and opportunity. We support organizations advancing equitable, measurable solutions in care, prevention, and wellness. By fostering creativity and collaboration, we help invest in systems that promote not only the absence of illness, but the presence of well-being—for individuals, communities, and future generations.
Education empowers people and transforms societies. We back organizations that reimagine learning with creativity, inclusivity, and measurable impact. By encouraging curiosity, innovation, and access, we aim to nurture thinkers and doers who shape a better future. Education driven by optimism creates lasting change—within individuals and across communities.
Environmental sustainability is essential to global well-being. We invest in organizations addressing climate, conservation, and resilience through inventive, collaborative solutions. By supporting measurable, hopeful approaches to sustainability, we seek to protect the planet while creating opportunities for communities to flourish—today and for generations to come.
The Foundation Council holds signatory power and reports to Federal Swiss authorities. Reporting to the Council is the Foundation Committee, with a volunteer membership whose seats are established based on relevant strengths and skillsets derived from Gunvor Group’s employees.
The Committee operates with complete independence from the Group, and meets regularly to oversee the Foundation’s giving strategy and to assess and manage beneficiaries. Observer seats supplement the Committee’s activities where needed, such as for compliance review processes.
